Aimee Semple McPherson (1890-1944), also known as Sister Aimee, was a Canadian-American Pentecostal evangelist and media celebrity in the 1920s and 1930s who founded the Foursquare Church. She used radio to combine the gospel with popular entertainment and fill her Angelus Temple in Los Angeles, one of the first megachurches. Sister Aimee was the most publicized Protestant evangelist of her time. She conducted public faith healing demonstrations before large crowds with thousands of people claiming to have been healed. McPherson's dynamic preaching style, along with her extensive public outreach were a major influence on Charismatic Christianity in the 20th century.
