Description
As the heading says, this is a group of many small light modifiers for portable flashes, mostly, but not entirely, of the omni-directional kind.Included are, among other items, 12
Sto-fen-style OmniBounces
that fit right over the end of the flash head.
I know what Canon Speedlites they are size for, but they will also fit certain sizes of other manufacturers’ flash units.
I don’t think that all of these come from Sto-fen itself (one does and is in the original bag), but they are of that style.
Most of them are sized for the Canon Speedlite 580EX and 580EX II, though only two or three are marked (with Sharpie) to indicate that, but all but one of the units that are not marked that way are for those flashes.
There is also a kind honey-combed omnibounce that is marked inside by the manufacturer as being for the Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT.
And there are a couple marked in Sharpie as being for the 420EX and one for the 430EX.
Of the ones for the 580EX and 580EX II, 3 are of the clear/milky-colored classic kind, 3 are tungsten-colored for coloring or color-correcting (for tungsten) the light, 3 are green-colored for coloring or color-correcting (for greenish fluorescent) the light.
The 2 for the 420EX, the one for the 430EX, and the one for the 600EX-RT are all of the clear/milky-colored classic kind.
From
Lumiquest
, there are 2 of their kind of omnibounce, called an
UltraBounce
which, instead of simply sliding onto the end of the flash head, wrap around it and attach with Velcro tabs.
I have provided you with a good number of the kind of
Velcro gummy/adhesive tabs that Lumiquest used to provide
and that people used to attach the Lumiquest modifiers, but I would never use them again.
They can leave a gummy mess if you ever want to remove them later; if you’re sure that you never will, they are convenient.
These days, I would use instead something like a Honl Speed Strap, but all that is and all you need is a strip of non-gummy-adhesive Velcro, preferably not too narrow, to wrap tightly around the flash head.
That is essentially what Lumiquest and Gary Fong and others now have on their modifiers for attaching them to any flash head.
Also from Lumiquest, there are its classic
Pocket Bouncer
, a kind of angled white hood to reflect light forward, softer and spread out more than direct flash light would be; and their
FX Color Gel System
, which is essentially a gel holder with a front clear/milky-colored “window,” Velcro attachment tabs, and an assortment of colored gels that fit inside the holder:
red, blue, green, yellow, and amber.
From
Gary Fong
, there is the
Power Snoot
with removable grid, which is made of hard silver plastic so as to ensure that little light is lost passing through it.
The grid itself is made of black plastic.
Of course, the reflectivity aids in accomplishing the purpose of a snoot, which is to create a narrow, intense beam of light, like a small spotlight.
I have replaced the original Velcro strap, what was flimsy, with a more durable kind of “locking” Velcro strip.
All of these units are sturdy and cosmetically and functionally in fine shape.
