Who Hit The So. Cal. Waves Back
    in the Early 60's
Grant Rohloff was among a handful of the original surfing filmmakers in the late 1950s and 1960s. His influence would sway future generations of surfers and surf film-making. In the mid-1950s he had an apprenticeship with Surfer magazine publisher surf culture artist/photographer John Severson. He first began shooting his own footage in 1958. Rohloff’s films show early surf pioneers tackling huge waves in exotic locations.
"Out of Control" is a surfing adventure film that has "extraordinary summer action" shot in California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii.
This flyer, from 1961 measures 7" X 10 1/2". The top left corner has a small piece missing where there was a push pin, and the top right corner has a remnant of a push pin hole (the head), as well as mark where the paper was pulled from the pin. Thin paper and appears to be slightly faded. The back shows tape residue on the bottom corners.
The flyer announced the venue: Santa Monica Civic
There was also a cool "Xmas Special". It was two Door Prizes (Free custom surfboard by Jacobs, and a free round trip to Hawaii).
