NOTE:  THIS IS A SINGLE UNMOUNTED PHOTO THAT WAS RETURNED FROM A SURFING MAGAZINE SUBMISSION. IT IS BEING SOLD 'AS IS' AND IF THE SURFER'S NAME IS INCLUDED PLEASE BE AWARE THAT WE ARE NOT SELLING MULTIPLE COPIES, NOR PROMOTING ANY ONE. HOPEFULLY IF YOU KNOW THE SURFER OR ARE A FRIEND THEY MIGHT WANT IT, AND WE JUST WANT TO RECYCLE TO SOMEONE WHO MAY WANT AN ORIGINAL PRINT.
This is a fair to good quality (varies)  original hand printed 8 x 10 inch (see photo)silver halide gelatin photograph of an unknown surfer at Rocky point 1980s? custom printed by longtime Hawaii professional surfing photographer Bill Romerhaus in a darkroom from the original negative, archivally developed in chemistry on Ilford glossy surface black & white photographic paper. It may be initialed or signed and dated by the photographer('BR 68
')
on the front of the photo. This is a single print that was returned from a submission to a surfing magazine, it was probably printed in the publication. We just don't have the time to track down or contact these guys so that's why we're selling this print.

Please be aware that this photo is unlike newer computer digital prints because the original was shot on older black and white film and printed from the original negative 'As is' and the actual larger photo may  look grainier and not quite as sharp as the sample here. It also includes a white margin if you see one here. There may be few small specks on the photo that you can't see here. It has the unique look of a silver halide gelatin photo, the tonal range may a little softer than the higher contrast look of a computer screen.
It would make a great birthday, nostalgic, or holiday gift for the surfer, a friend, someone who grew up in this era, or likes historic images of surfing.

This original silver halide gelatin print was photographed, developed, and hand printed from the original negative in a darkroom on Ilford® black and white paper by professional surfing, stock photographer, and master black and white printer Bill Romerhaus, of North Shore Photography, who has been shooting surfing, stock and scenics since 1967. He is one of a very few photographers in the world who specializes in hand printing original black & white waves and surfing. His most recent work has appeared as background art in the CBS/Eye productions "Magnum P.I." , "Hawaii 50", "Soul Surfer", Disney/Dreamworks productions "Fright Night", ABC Television pilot "My Generation", Sony Pictures "Soul Surfer", CBS/Paramount Network TV series "The Cleaner" on A&E Networks, Universal Pictures "Forgetting Sarah Marshall", and Warner Brothers  "The Big Bounce", filmed on the North Shore or on Oahu, providing vintage photos of nostalgia, and surfing for background artwork.
Bill has lived in Hawaii for over 50 years. In 1965 he shot his first surfing photo and was a contributing photographer to 'Surfer', and 'Surfing' magazines, and over 30 international surfing magazines and manufacturers, as a photojournalist for over 100 publications, advertising/stock photo agencies, and corporate clients worldwi
de.
His photos have credited him with over 200 cover shots and full page advertisements. His work has appeared in Popular Photography, Shutterbug, American Photographer, Shape, Men's Fitness, Surfing, Surfer, over 30 International surfing publications,  Honolulu, Aloha, many other Hawaii newspapers and publication, Outdoor, Outside, Conde Nast Traveler, National Enquirer, CNN, Discovery & History Channels, & many others. Professional clients have included American Express, Vogue International, Analog Clothing, Hilton Hotels, Hawaiian Tropic, Hawaiian Airlines etc. He is also a contributing photographer for over 40 years to the North Shore News, in Haleiwa. Bill now specializes in printing historic and nostalgic images of Hawaii (NOSTALGIC PHOTOS HAWAII) from the thousands of photos he has produced and collected as a professional photographer in the past five decades living in Hawaii and selling his twice award winning photo history book "Haleiwa: A Pictorial History" available at our e-Bay store, and is now represented by Getty Images, one of the world's largest photo agencies.  Prints are copyrighted and the images are not to be used for commercial, promotional use, or reproduced without our written permission.
